Collected fields: All data entered by visitors in a comment field.

Technical metadata: Visitor’s IP address and User-Agent string (for browser detection) to reliably detect spam.

Gravatar check: A hash is generated from the provided email address and sent to the Gravatar service to check for a profile. Gravatar privacy policy: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After comment approval, the profile picture is publicly displayed in the comment context.

Cookies

Comment storage: On request, name, email, and website can be stored in a cookie for automatic pre-filling on next comment (duration: 1 year).

Session cookie: Temporary cookie to check if the browser accepts cookies (no personal data, deleted when browser closes).

Login cookies:

• Cookie for login status and display settings (duration: 2 days)
• “Remember me” cookie (duration: 2 weeks)
• Display settings cookie (duration: 1 year)

All login cookies are removed upon logout.
